EWeek 2016

In EWeek 2016 Camellia Institute of Technology organize the following program.

1. Hackathon

This programme was done in association with Virtual Infocom. The event was observed for 48 hours. 44 students participated in 11 teams. The topic was suggested by the representatives of the team. Students were asked to make tech-related products such as website, android apps etc., along with pitch deck.

2. Panel Discussion

Topic was “Entrepreneurship Vs 9-5 jobs” and the panel members were Ravi Ranjan, Prof. Manas Sanyal, M/s. Shreeparna Panda.

3. Quizard

The event was organised at CIT campus, 58 students participated. The event was concluded in 3 rounds. The topics were related to Entrepreneurship, Business and Indian Economy.

The First Round was preliminary round. 30 students qualified this round.

The second round was audio/visual round. Only 6 students were selected from this round for the final round.

4. IPR

As being technology engineering students should be aware of the intellectual Property Right. So in the E-week the institute EDC has conducted a seminar on it. The Key note speaker was Dr. Mohua Homchowdhury, Scientist C. She and her team gave the students lots of information about various Do’s and Don’ts  and about filing a patent, what can be patented and what not, difference between patents and copyrights etc.

5. Debate

This event was organised   at CIT campus.  12 students participated. The topic was “Entrepreneurship Vs Traditional Jobs”. This event was organised to let the students voice their opinions about Entrepreneurship and clarify any doubts simultaneously.

6. POSTER COMPETITION

The Topic given to students was “Ideas for a Better Society”. Students participated with great enthusiasm and came forward with good ideas. The best poster was awarded.imgHac13 imgHac14

7. Workshop by Deepak Khaitan

It was an extreme pleasure to have Mr. Deepak Khaitan amongst us who conducted  a very useful workshop on Business Plan Creation, conceiving an idea for start up and how to take required steps for setting up an start up. We are thankful to him to have come to our campus or this Extremely helpful workshop.

8. 100++ games

The event was organised to give students a fair idea about real life problems face by any working individual to sale his products or services. Students participated enthusiastically and learnt about team management and marketing.

9. Outreach

A team of six students went to Kalyani Public School (Barasat) to preach about entrepreneurship and choosing it as a career. We got introduced very late to this term and hence the team decided to ensure that this doesn’t happen with the current batch of school students. The outreach was highly successful and the reviews on facebook were great. The team was asked to visit the campus again and enlighten more on the topic. Probably this will continue all over the year.

10. Business Plan

This event was organised at CIT campus.  5 students participated in 4 team to pitch there business ideas. It was judged by Mr. Sirish Agarwal (CEO of A One Technologies) and Mr. Nilesh Shah (CEO of Rancelab) who were also our chief guest and guest of honour. They were impressed with the ideas and the way they were pitched and also gave some really valuable suggestions so that the planning and execution improves.

11. Ink well(Essay Competition)

The event was organised at CIT campus on the topic “Role of an entrepreneur in the society”, so that the students understand the importance of Entrepreneurship as a career.

12. An industrial Tour to Jabil

Jabil is a very famous name in the field of domestic electronics since last few years. With a number of workshops an India, they are growing very fast. Our students visited the Madhyamgram workshop on 27th February, this year. Mr. P. Ravu and Mr. Mahesh explained different aspects of engineering practices, the qualities of a good engineer, quality control, process flow etc.  besides all technical aspects. The students participation was highly appreciated and they were also allowed to do something hands-on. The students were also highly benefitted from this tour.

Prof. Ashok Kr. Banerjee, Chairman, IIM C Alumni Association, inaugurated the programme. The other speakers were Prof. Prabal Kumar Majumder, Ex- HOD, Dept of Engineering, Govt. College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Shri Debanshu Chatterjee, Faculty of Marketing, Enterprise Development Institute and other dignitaries.

 

Hands-on training on Solar Energy and System in collaboration with NBIRT.

Day by day using of decentralized and standalone or grid connected power production has been enhanced to power producer significantly remembering the environmentally constrained CDM technology and in connection to that government of India launched the initiative of JNN Solar Mission. Observing on the fuming issue the department of Electronics & Communication and Electrical Engineering of Camellia Institute of Technology, Madhyamgram, Kolkata-129 apprehended a hands-on training on Solar Energy and System  in collaboration with NBIRT, 220 Madurdaha, Kalikapur, Kolkata-107 during the period of 11th February to 23rd, 2016.

Camellia Institute of Technology always has compatible and effective curriculum of developing student for industry ready. The course curriculum was designed with content of familiarization of solar cells, solar modules, array, PV cells, solar PV designing, storage system, home lighting systems with switch board connection, quiz, group discussion and end with floating solar panel visit and also visit to Deshapryia Park solar street lighting. It was a complete training period of 10 days and successfully covered by the trainers and officials of NBIRT. The student of Camellia Institute of Technology highly inspired by eminent personnel like Prof. (Dr.) Shantipada Gonchaudhury discussed the objective of training in respect to national and international concern.

Cisco Unified Data Center changes the economics of the data center by unifying networking, compute, storage, virtualization, and management into a single platform. The results are operational simplicity and business agility, which are essential for cloud computing and deploying IT-as-a-Service.

CISCO Education Forum 2015.

The educators from Department of Computer Science & Engineering  of Camellia Institute of Technology represented our Institution as delegates in the CISCO Education Forum 2015(Transforming Education with connected learning) on 1st July,2015 at The Oberoi Grand,Kolkata.

 The forum started with a welcome address by Mr. Koushik Nath, VP Systems Engineering, India & SAARC – Cisco.

The first keynote on “Mobility in Education” was then delivered by Mr. Arun Negi, Product sales specialist, Enterprise Networking, Cisco.

The second keynote on “How is adoption of Wi-Fi and wireless connections bringing the change in the education sector” was delivered by Professor Anadadeb Mukherjee, Former Vice Chancellor, Vidyasagar University and Emeritus Professor of Jadavpur University.

Seminar on Opportunities in IT/ITES & E- Commerce.

The students of Camellia Institute of Technology participated in a 1 day seminar on “Opportunities in IT/ITES & E- Commerce” organized by Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Development (ILEAD) in association with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) on 19th June 2015.

  • The advent of disruptive technologies and how they are impacting all businesses.
  • How IT & ITeS technologies are opening new ways of doing business.

Agile Testing Alliance – BugATAhon 2015

The students of 3rd year and 2nd year from Camellia Institute of Technology participated at BugATAhon 2015 event which was organized by Agile Testing Alliance in association with NASSCOM, Capgemini, PMI, Microsoft, 10000 Start-ups, etc…

The event was a free non-profit international crowd testing competition challenge to test a live application in 2 hour. the participants  were either individuals or in groups (group of max 3).

a.Number of defects.
b. Severity of Defects.
c. Defect Description.
d. Test Approach.

Alegria & Creazione is the Annual Cultural & Tech Fest of Camellia Institute of Technology. Since its inception it has always brought out the best talents in the college to the fore.  For the academic year: 2014-2015, it was organized on 29th April, 1st May & 2nd May, 2015. It was a 3 day event. The Telegraph was the title sponsor. Other sponsors were 91.9 Friends FM (Radio Partner), Kathleen (Food Partner), The brave (Print Partner) & On the Rox (Online Partner). This year’s Fest was jointly organized by the students of Camellia Institute of Technology & Camellia Institute of Engineering.

For the first time, an intra-college sports fest was organized on 29th April, 2015 which included outdoor games like Cricket, Football & Volleyball and indoor games likes Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess & Rubik’s Cube. The students’ council has plans to organize an Inter-College Sports Fest in the near future.

On the same day, the college hosted the Tech Fest which included events like inter-college robotics, gaming, debate along with events like photography, short-film and poster-making etc., providing an opportunity to the students to present their technical and creative skills. Events like Tech-Novation (Presentation of Business/Innovative Ideas), Build-de-Bridge (Bridge-Making), Tech-Creativo (Creative writing) & Tech-de-Movie (Short-Film) were introduced in this year’s fest. Preliminary rounds for most of the events were completed. Final round for some of the events were conducted on 1st of May, 2015. The event was successful enough to attract as many as 500 registrations for the two days tech fest which included all the events. Participants from various colleges registered and contributed to making the event a grand success.

1st May, 2015: ALEGRIA 2K15, the 2 day event was inaugurated by the Campus Director, Mr. Avijit Das & Mr. Nilanjan Basu, Director (Public Relations), Camellia Group. The first day of ALEGRIA 2k15 started off with Band Competition, followed by Inter-college singing, dancing and instrumental competitions, and then performance by the college band, INJEKTED & lastly with UNDERGROUND AUTHORITY burning the stage on fire. The winner of the band competition was VOLK, a Kolkata based college band. The winner including the runners up were awarded with Prize Money, Trophies & Certificates.

2nd May, 2015: The 2nd & the final day of ALEGRIA 2K15, started off with Inter-College Singing, Dancing & Instrumental Competitions followed by performances by two college bands. MORUDDYAN was next in the slot. Pota, the lead singer of the band, hypnotized the audience with his very first song ‘Sudhu tumi ele na’. It was a mesmerizing overall performance. It was followed by a breath-taking dance performance by the College Dance Team, INERTIA. More in line was the show stopping event, the RAMP competition. The final day of ALEGRIA 2K15 ended with the DJ playing awesome dance numbers for the audience.

The fest witnessed a wide audience participation over the years where the students gathered to showcase their prowess in various activities and had unlimited fun.

Birthday Celebration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Camellia Institute of Technology.

Birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in 2015 was celebrated at Camellia Institute of Technology on 23rd of January, Friday. It was celebrated as the 118th birthday anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday anniversary is celebrated every year with the great honor by the people including government and non government organizations. As he was one of the most well known Indian leaders during the independence movement, he has become a great legendary figure in the history of India.

It has been demanded by the Netaji’s followers to celebrate his birthday anniversary as a “Desh Prem Divas” in order to re-memorize his great sacrifice towards the country.

ARUNODAY – National Youth Day.

The National Youth Day was celebrated at Camellia Institute of Technology on 12th January,2015 to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. The Government of India declared National Youth Day in 1984 to motivate youth to follow the principles and ideals of the great philosopher and scholar. To quote from the Government of India’s Communication,

it was felt that the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth.

ANURANAN- A FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME(Phase I) on Servant Leadership & Project Management.

ANURANAN, THE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME(Phase I) was organized by Camellia Institute of Technology on 1st & 2nd December,2014. The theme of the programme was of Servant Leadership and Project Management.

The main objectives of the programme were:

  • To support faculty members in their efforts to enhance competence in their teaching fields by keeping abreast of developments in their own disciplines and allied.
  • To support research projects those contribute to the faculty members’ professional development and/or provide learning opportunities for students, consistent with the college’s mission as a teaching institution.
  • To keep faculty informed and to foster active discussion of developments in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • To encourage thoughtful and effective integration of educational technology in the teaching and learning process.
  • To support the efforts of individual faculty members to enhance their teaching and learning effectiveness.
  • To develop innovation in teaching & learning process.
  • To assist new faculties in developing productivity in classroom lectures and hone their skills for a brighter career at CAMELLIA.
  • Commitment towards Self-development and devotion towards the institute.
  • Educating young faculties on forthcoming Project Management.
