Department of Electrical Engineering, Camellia Institute of Technology organized a two day National Conference entitled to ‘National Conference on Recent Trends in Emerging Science and Technology (NCRTEST 2016)’ from 29-30 March, 2016 in collaboration with ‘International Journal of Scientific and Engineering Research (IJSER)’ and ‘Institution of Engineers (INDIA), IEI’.

The objective of NCRTEST 2016 was to motivate students, scholars but also for academicians in the field of Science and Technology bringing together with their expertise to interchange the research ideas.

Prof.(Dr.) Ranjan Ganguly, Jadavpur University, Adjunct Associate Professor, Dept. of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA delivered a keynote lecture on “Healthcare for everyone: Low-cost paper-based micro-fluidic devices” in the special session on second day.

Prof.(Dr.) Prokash C. Roy , Jadavpur University also delivered a keynote speech on ‘Recent trends and technological development in energy from wastes’.

The organizing committee, NCRTEST 2016 received Fifty Eight papers from different universities like Jadavpur University, Calcutta University and several Engineering Colleges in India and Fifty Five papers has been presented in the said symposium by respective authors.  All the accepted papers would be published in IJSER with ISSN: 2229-551 .

WORKSHOP ON STEEL IN APPLICATION

A workshop on STEEL IN APPLICATION was jointly organized by Camellia Institute of Technology, Madhyamgram and Institute for Steel Development & Growth (INSDAG), Kolkata at our Institute during 18th and 19th followed by Industry visit on 20th Feb, 2016. The programme was inaugurated by our Director, Prof. Avijit Das, who encouraged the students not be tied with books but to enlarge their knowledge and practical experience. Prof. B. Bhowmik explained the necessity of such programme, not included in the syllabus, for improving the employability of the students.

Dr. Jayanta Saha, Deputy General Manager of INSDAG explained the necessity and contents of the workshop. Eminent speakers from INSDAG, Industry and Institute delivered the lectures on the various aspects of steels, its making, fabrication, inspection and uses.

EWeek 2016

In EWeek 2016 Camellia Institute of Technology organize the following program.

1. Hackathon

This programme was done in association with Virtual Infocom. The event was observed for 48 hours. 44 students participated in 11 teams. The topic was suggested by the representatives of the team. Students were asked to make tech-related products such as website, android apps etc., along with pitch deck.

2. Panel Discussion

Topic was “Entrepreneurship Vs 9-5 jobs” and the panel members were Ravi Ranjan, Prof. Manas Sanyal, M/s. Shreeparna Panda.

3. Quizard

The event was organised at CIT campus, 58 students participated. The event was concluded in 3 rounds. The topics were related to Entrepreneurship, Business and Indian Economy.

The First Round was preliminary round. 30 students qualified this round.

The second round was audio/visual round. Only 6 students were selected from this round for the final round.

4. IPR

As being technology engineering students should be aware of the intellectual Property Right. So in the E-week the institute EDC has conducted a seminar on it. The Key note speaker was Dr. Mohua Homchowdhury, Scientist C. She and her team gave the students lots of information about various Do’s and Don’ts  and about filing a patent, what can be patented and what not, difference between patents and copyrights etc.

5. Debate

This event was organised   at CIT campus.  12 students participated. The topic was “Entrepreneurship Vs Traditional Jobs”. This event was organised to let the students voice their opinions about Entrepreneurship and clarify any doubts simultaneously.

6. POSTER COMPETITION

The Topic given to students was “Ideas for a Better Society”. Students participated with great enthusiasm and came forward with good ideas. The best poster was awarded.imgHac13 imgHac14

7. Workshop by Deepak Khaitan

It was an extreme pleasure to have Mr. Deepak Khaitan amongst us who conducted  a very useful workshop on Business Plan Creation, conceiving an idea for start up and how to take required steps for setting up an start up. We are thankful to him to have come to our campus or this Extremely helpful workshop.

8. 100++ games

The event was organised to give students a fair idea about real life problems face by any working individual to sale his products or services. Students participated enthusiastically and learnt about team management and marketing.

9. Outreach

A team of six students went to Kalyani Public School (Barasat) to preach about entrepreneurship and choosing it as a career. We got introduced very late to this term and hence the team decided to ensure that this doesn’t happen with the current batch of school students. The outreach was highly successful and the reviews on facebook were great. The team was asked to visit the campus again and enlighten more on the topic. Probably this will continue all over the year.

10. Business Plan

This event was organised at CIT campus.  5 students participated in 4 team to pitch there business ideas. It was judged by Mr. Sirish Agarwal (CEO of A One Technologies) and Mr. Nilesh Shah (CEO of Rancelab) who were also our chief guest and guest of honour. They were impressed with the ideas and the way they were pitched and also gave some really valuable suggestions so that the planning and execution improves.

11. Ink well(Essay Competition)

The event was organised at CIT campus on the topic “Role of an entrepreneur in the society”, so that the students understand the importance of Entrepreneurship as a career.

12. An industrial Tour to Jabil

Jabil is a very famous name in the field of domestic electronics since last few years. With a number of workshops an India, they are growing very fast. Our students visited the Madhyamgram workshop on 27th February, this year. Mr. P. Ravu and Mr. Mahesh explained different aspects of engineering practices, the qualities of a good engineer, quality control, process flow etc.  besides all technical aspects. The students participation was highly appreciated and they were also allowed to do something hands-on. The students were also highly benefitted from this tour.

Prof. Ashok Kr. Banerjee, Chairman, IIM C Alumni Association, inaugurated the programme. The other speakers were Prof. Prabal Kumar Majumder, Ex- HOD, Dept of Engineering, Govt. College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Shri Debanshu Chatterjee, Faculty of Marketing, Enterprise Development Institute and other dignitaries.

 

Hands-on training on Solar Energy and System in collaboration with NBIRT.

Day by day using of decentralized and standalone or grid connected power production has been enhanced to power producer significantly remembering the environmentally constrained CDM technology and in connection to that government of India launched the initiative of JNN Solar Mission. Observing on the fuming issue the department of Electronics & Communication and Electrical Engineering of Camellia Institute of Technology, Madhyamgram, Kolkata-129 apprehended a hands-on training on Solar Energy and System  in collaboration with NBIRT, 220 Madurdaha, Kalikapur, Kolkata-107 during the period of 11th February to 23rd, 2016.

Camellia Institute of Technology always has compatible and effective curriculum of developing student for industry ready. The course curriculum was designed with content of familiarization of solar cells, solar modules, array, PV cells, solar PV designing, storage system, home lighting systems with switch board connection, quiz, group discussion and end with floating solar panel visit and also visit to Deshapryia Park solar street lighting. It was a complete training period of 10 days and successfully covered by the trainers and officials of NBIRT. The student of Camellia Institute of Technology highly inspired by eminent personnel like Prof. (Dr.) Shantipada Gonchaudhury discussed the objective of training in respect to national and international concern.

Smart India – Smart Solutions for Smart Cities.

Camellia Institute of Technology had organized two days Seminar  on Smart India – Smart Solutions for Smart Cities on 21st and 22nd January, 2016.The fully accredited program builds on college’s long standing tradition of academic excellence & future thinking.

With the rapid growth of information and communication technologies, there is a growing interest in developing smart cities with a focus on the knowledge economy, use of sensors, mobile and green technologies, to plan and manage cities. Emerging technologies have potential applications for efficiently managing environment, infrastructure, promoting economic development and building safe healthy sustainable & resilient cities through the active engagement of people.

Eminent persons from industry and academic, who are directly or indirectly involve in the project of Smart Cities, were present in this seminar programme. Mr. Debashis Sen, Principal Secretary, Urban Development Dept., Govt. Of West Bengal & Chairman – WBHIDCO Ltd. inaugurated the program &emphasized on the implementation of the Government Policies & initiatives to accelerate the Smart City Projects. It is also highlighted by Mr. Talleen Kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Government of West Bengal, the importance of Smart City in present era.

3-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme under DST-NIMAT Project 2015-16.

 PRAYAS, EDC, CIT conducted a 3-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme under DST-NIMAT Project 2015-16, from 18th January to 20th January, 2016 at Camellia Institute of Technology, in association with Enterprise . The programme was Sponsored by The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Dept. of Science & Technology, Government of India

The Program included 2 Days’ In-house Workshop followed by 1 day’s Industry Visit.  Prof. Ashok Kr. Banerjee, Chairman, IIM C Alumni Association, inaugurated the programme.

WORKSHOP ON STEEL IN CONSTRUCTION

This training programme had been jointly organised by Camellia Institute of Technology and Institute for Steel Development and Growth (INSDAG), on 30th Sept, 1st & 13th Oct, 2015, for enhancement of knowledge in steel and steel structures for 3rd year and 4th year students of this institute.

Many eminent persons from the industry delivered expert talks on the subject and interacted with the students to share their experiences and knowledge.

It was a three day interactive session. First two day’s sessions were the classroom interaction with the students.

On the third day, students were taken to two of the major steel building;

Restello, the residential building at Rajarhat and a commercial hub at E. M. Bypass (near Ruby). The commercial hub has been designed by INSDAG.

3-Days hands-on Training on Electrical Switchgear and Protection at L & T (Automation) Ltd., Kolkata

Day by day robust design of electrical switchgears becomes additional factor for smooth operational methodology in connection to fully automated power system protection. Observing on the smoldering issue the department of Electrical engineering of Camellia Institute of Technology, Madhyamgram, Kolkata-129 apprehended a hands-on training on designing of HV & LV switchgear in collaboration with L & T switchgear and automation at L & T House, Kolkata-71 during the period of 29th September to 01st October, 2015.

Camellia Institute of Technology always has compatible and effective curriculum of developing student for industry ready. It was a complete power pack training session of more than 21 hours in 3 days including lectures from top   L & T professionals.

The introduction to multidimensional industrial electrical system was mapped by L & T professionals covering typical industrial electric power distribution scheme, workshop demonstration giving exposure to a wide range of low voltage switchgear like contactors, overload relays, motor starters and circuit breakers with basic overview of soft starters, drives, bus bar trunking, capacitor for power factor improvement etc.

CISCO Education Forum 2015.

The educators from Department of Computer Science & Engineering  of Camellia Institute of Technology represented our Institution as delegates in the CISCO Education Forum 2015(Transforming Education with connected learning) on 1st July,2015 at The Oberoi Grand,Kolkata.
